Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Blank cd disks mount successfully.
Brasero read and write all disks.
Blank dvd disk not mount in nautilus and not accessible in Brasero.
If i wrote on same disk enything (in windows) nautilus mount it.
dvd+rw-format -force /dev/scd0
....
dvd+rw-format run only with -force option and don't help....

Thank you for your bug report but blank disks are not supposed to be mountable since they have no datas

cd disk is mounting in koala and i can burn

in 9.04 blank dvd was mountable and i can burn they

disks not mounting and not being listed are different issues, could you describe what your issue is exactly? could you put a blank disk in the drive and run devkit-disks --dump and gvfs-mount -li and copy logs there?

This screenshot is not from my computer
I have not icon "Blank DVD-RW" on my desktop and no window "Blank DVD-RW" at my computer

the disk is not blank, it's either a devicekit-disks issue or not one

K3B successfully burn blank dvd, though brasero and nautilus do not detect it

Having the same problem here in karmic. The blank DVD is neither recognized by nautilus nor brasero. As it is one of the basic task on a computer to be able to burn data on a DVD this should really work out of the box. I really don't understand why this bugs importance is only "low".
I installed gnomebaker and everything seems to work now (disk is still burning), but any average Ubuntu user will not be able to find such a workaround.

Is there any more information i need to provide in order to help with the fix?

Same problem as previous posters with a blank DVD+RW which is not recognized by both Nautilus and Brasero in Karmic 64 bit, yet command line tools correctly show and burn the media. Blank CD-RW and DVD+R are recognized. I cannot really understand why this is a duplicate of bug #397096.
