This bug has not seen any progress in the past eight months: is there anything that needs to be done/added to add "Strech" to the list of supported releases ("Yaketty" has made it into that list)?

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in debootstrap (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

Bug can be closed as "Strech" has been meanwhile added to "debootstrap" on Trusty.
