Bug Description

[ Description ]

Can't debootstrap raring on quantal because there is no script.

[ Test case ]

(quantal-amd64)root@iota:/home/laney/temp# debootstrap raring .
E: No such script: /usr/share/debootstrap/scripts/raring
# install the new package
(quantal-amd64)root@iota:/home/laney/temp# dpkg -i debootstrap_1.0.42ubuntu0.1_all.deb
(Reading database ... 11988 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace debootstrap 1.0.42 (using debootstrap_1.0.42ubuntu0.1_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement debootstrap ...
Setting up debootstrap (1.0.42ubuntu0.1) ...
(quantal-amd64)root@iota:/home/laney/temp# debootstrap raring foo
I: Retrieving InRelease

[ Regression potential ]

It could be that the existing script doesn't work for raring.

[ Original description ]

Well, it's time for the usual post-release/next-release fiddling.

Quantal's debootstrap needs to add scripts/raring (13.04) as a symlink to gutsy in order to support raring chroots on 12.10.

Adam, can you update your patch against debootstrap 1.0.39ubuntu0.1 from precise-updates and close this bug in debian/changelog?

Adam, I have uploaded your debootstap 1.0.39ubuntu0.2 to precise-proposed (with raring changed back to a symlink as the patch tool cannot express symlinks).

Hello Barry, or anyone else affected,

Accepted debootstrap into quantal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debootstrap/1.0.42ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!
