Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

When trying to install Lucid 10.04.2 using the alternate installer available here:

http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ubuntu-10.04.2-alternate-i386.iso

We are finding that this is failing the DHCP config step on certain systems. No link light activity is seen on the ethernet port at any time. Using the desktop installer for Lucid, or using Maverick alternate for example works fine (DHCP config succeeds and link light activity can be seen).

The network cards of the systems involved are:

Broadcom BCM57780
Broadcom BCM57788
