Binary package hint: debian-installer

on the display there are 4 thin lines with green slider moving back and forth within the lines

Moving back and forth? That doesn't sound like debian-installer, so I
think this bug should probably be reassigned somewhere else. Were you
starting a desktop CD, by any chance? What version of Ubuntu, and what
graphics hardware?

Thanks. Could you please confirm whether you downloaded the desktop CD,
or something else (we ship several types of images and we need this
information to figure out where to send your bug)?
