Bug Description

Very often I try to install Ubuntu from Ubuntu minimal cd (mini.iso) on different computers. I have not so speedy and stable internet connection.
And very often install process hangs on step "Installing base system" - "Retrieving packages" because it try to download some package but download process hangs at some time or broken and reconnected (maybe reconnected with another dynamic ip). Because my internet is not so quick (128kbps) the download process goes long time (more than one hour, and all of this time I see the progress bar at 6%!!) and chance to got the disconnect or connect problems is very big!

I didn't see the download process and can't detect when it hangs! I can look at 6% and package name and wait many hours when something changes, but nothing changes! And I didn't see any error or progress messages in installer log file!

I see only the name of package downloading now, but no indicators of received bytes, download speed, no buttons for stop or restart download process, no method to select another mirror or retry download process from start.
For solve the problem I need to restart the computer and try to install all again from first step!

I think the installer must have this functions when downloading something from the internet:
- shows the download indicator of each file in bytes
- shows the download speed
- shows which file from which location is downloaded
- have the buttons for restart or retry file download process
- option to break the download process and go back to mirror select
- option to change selected mirror and continue download from another mirror

Please do Ubuntu more user-friendly for users with low speed internet connections!

Maybe installer have this functional optionally and I can turn it on with some startup commands?
