Bug Description

Binary package hint: base-installer

The Kubuntu 9.10a4 LiveCD 32 bit install disk cannot determine the size of the partitions in use. Please correct this, it worked in previous versions of [K]Ubuntu. Thanks.

Please provide more details. For example:

  * Attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman from the installation attempt (before rebooting) to this bug report.
  * Tell us something - anything! - about your system.

Thanks in advance.

affects: base-installer (Ubuntu) → debian-installer (Ubuntu)

Thanks, how can I get that information to you? Specifically, when I am at that part of the install, what should I do to get that info and have it uploaded here?

Dell Inspiron laptop: Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 80 GB Seagate SATA harddrive already divided into four partitions (/ daily driver, / testing, swap, /home)

If you have working network access in the live CD, then run 'apport-collect -p ubiquity 417648' in a terminal and it should attach all the necessary information.

On multiple computers with multiple *buntu versions I find the same root cause: JFS filesystems. The Ubiquity installer cannot determine the size in use of JFS partitions. Other filesystems such as ext* work as expected.

In this light, this may be a RFE for JFS support, and not a bug. Feel free to refile as necessary. Thanks.
