SATA systems don't automount windows partitions like an ATA system does

Bug #41020 reported by Lee Connell on 2006-04-24

debian-installer (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

I've noticed that on two SATA laptops the EVMS did not automount my windows partitions as the two laptops i've got ATA on did and put nice icons on the desktop for these partitions.

EVMS does not automount any devices, though debian-installer sets up fstab to automatically mount partitions. Please attach /var/log/installer/syslog and /etc/fstab to this bug report from the system where you see this problem.

fstab from problematic sata laptop

syslog from problematic sata laptop

Could you also provide us with /var/log/installer/partman? Sorry we didn't ask you for this earlier.

Did you select any partitioning options that involved resizing your Windows partitions?

Colin Watson (cjwatson) wrote :

(I suspect that this might be the known bug whereby resizing a partition doesn't copy over the method or acting_filesystem files to the new partman device directory.)

Changed in debian-installer:
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

Hi! Any news on this issue? Have you tried with version 7.04 (Feisty)?
