Bug Description

Binary package hint: base-installer

I am trying to install Jaunty-lpia using alternate CD and it doesn't recognise my Seagate SATA ST9320320AS. It gave me a list of disk driver and I don't know which one to choose. However when I boot my PC using Jaunty-i386 DVD or Jaunty-i386-alternate CD, I can install my system without any problem. My machine is Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz with 2 GB of RAM, and HDD SATA 320 GB.

The attachment is dmesg output of my installed system using Jaunty-i386-alternate CD. What should I give you guys to show the error message of Jaunty-lpia-alternate CD? How to solve this problem? FYI, I have been trying to boot my machine using USB CDROM and USB Flash with no luck.

Thanks.

The symptoms suggest that this is due to a difference in kernel configuration between i386 and lpia, but I haven't yet done a full analysis to make sure that this is in fact the problem - it's just possible that it's some bug in the way the installer's built on lpia.

affects: base-installer (Ubuntu) → debian-installer (Ubuntu)
