2019-03-11 10:31:28 Paride Legovini description Since March 6 the installer of the ubuntu-disco-server-ppc64el daily images consistently fails. The installer can't pass the "Partition disks" stage: the stage fails silently, without showing the classic d-i red error screen. A dig in the syslog shows: Mar 11 10:00:24 partman: *** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated Mar 11 10:00:24 partman: *** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated Mar 11 10:00:24 partman-lvm: *** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: --> PROGRESS STEP 1 Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: <-- 0 OK Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: --> PROGRESS INFO partman/progress/init/parted Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: <-- 0 OK Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: --> GET partman/alignment Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: <-- 0 optimal Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: --> PROGRESS STOP Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: <-- 0 OK Mar 11 10:00:24 main-menu[2181]: (process:10235): *** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated Mar 11 10:00:24 main-menu[2181]: (process:10235): Aborted Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: --> GET debconf/priority Mar 11 10:00:24 debconf: <-- 0 critical Mar 11 10:00:24 main-menu[2181]: INFO: Menu item 'partman-base' succeeded but requested to be left unconfigured. but the step clearly did not succeed.
