Bug Description

When specifying the VLAN config in d-i (at least with daily image Sept. 18th and 19th) the VLAN config is not properly processed.

Either the "Currently configured network parameters" summary in d-i is entirely missing or the interface line doesn't show the device with the VLAN suffix.

Hence "detecting link" takes very long and the network is not working afterwards.

See details with 16.04.3 behavior compared to 17.10:

16.04.3:

Currently configured network parameters:

 interface = encc000.1234 <=== okay !
 ipaddress = 10.123.123.11
 netmask = 255.255.255.0
 gateway = 10.123.123.1
 pointopoint = <none>
 nameservers = 10.123.123.1
Is this information correct?
  1: Yes [*] 2: No

17:10:

Detecting link on encc000; please wait... <=== took quite long

...
Please enter the hostname for this system.

The hostname is a single word that identifies your system to the network. If
you don't know what your hostname should be, consult your network
administrator. If you are setting up your own home network, you can make
something up here.
Hostname:
Prompt: '?' for help, default=ubuntu>
s1lp11

The domain name is the part of your Internet address to the right of your host
...
===> means no "Currently configured network parameters" summary listed like with 16.04.3

===> and I had once the case where the summary lokked like this (VLAN suffix missing):

Currently configured network parameters:

 interface = encc000 <=== ".1234" missing
 ipaddress = 10.123.123.11
 netmask = 255.255.255.0
 gateway = 10.123.123.1
 pointopoint = <none>
 nameservers = 10.123.123.1
Is this information correct?
  1: Yes [*] 2: No

Btw. if I proceed with the installation (proceeding with the broken VLAN config) and reach "Continue installation remotely using SSH",
I usually get an ssh command suggested like this (using ipv6):

ssh installer@ed80::ff:fe48:1c4e

But this time (with broken VLAN) I get an ipv4 address:

ssh installer@10.123.123.11
