Bug Description
first: sorry for my bad english
I use i386 version
I have one hard disk: /dev/sda
I have 9 partitons
I have 3 primary, others are logical
I install Gutsy to /dev/sda2 successfully (this have BOOT FLAG, I install grub into /dev/sda2!!!)
The menu contains only one UBUNTU (6 kernel) BUT those are 6.06 LTS on /dev/sda3
In other hands the problem maybe caused by pevious Linux on /dev/sda2, and it's previous grub
settings. This was Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop DEMO. (Yes, I delete it.)
when I read menu.lst I surprised!
I see:
...
title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.22-8-generic
root (hd0,1)
...
but this is not shown on grub menu!
When grub installed previously into MBR
a new GRUB install into a PARTITION BOOT RECORD is not runnable. :(
The solve is
-RANISH->install default IPL
-DOS->FDISK /MBR
or
-install GAG to MBR :)
I like more Ubuntu when this problem is solved with INSTALLER,
not only 3rd party tools.
PS:
I want more choice in grub install, NOT OLNY in alternate CD.
I prefer GAG, I never install GRUB to MBR (when I have the choice).
I dont like in UBUNTU: grub reinstall is too complicated,
Every SUSE version have a menupoint to restore linux boot! (This is very useful and friendly feature)
