Bug Description

Just about every time I've installed a *buntu, using the "alternate" ISOs, the same thing happens:
1) The installer asks for information such as desired username and password, time zone, and keyboard layout.
2) After filling out a few pages, it appears to start a long-running task, so at this point I assume it has all the information it needs and can complete installation unattended, so I go do something else for a while.
3) I come back hours later expecting the installation to be done, and instead see it barely started, paused, asking for HTTP proxy information.

It's a huge waste of time, and poor UI design to wait until partway through a long-running process to ask for more information you need to finish it, when you know you'll need it every time. It should prompt for this information right at the beginning, and probably do a connection test, so you can safely leave for a few hours after starting the installation and it'll actually be done when you get back. Perhaps it could even just try to connect without a proxy and see if that works, since I imagine it usually will.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1064569/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
