Bug Description

Binary package hint: dcraw

I don't think dcraw yet supports RAW files from the just released Canon 550D (a.k.a Canon T2i). I've hosted a sample .cr2 file here:

http://alittlepoison.com/canon_eos_550d.cr2

Thanks!

same issue here. The pictures load for approximately 10% and have a blue or red washed out effect.

Every raw image viewer (even the KDE versions) I've tried from te repository return the same image.
Somehow Rawstudio and Darkroom do show the thumbnails in the picture strip.
I don't now if all image viewers use Dcraw but they all show the same result.

I have attached a patched version of dcraw from Dave Coffin.

Thanks VladIonescu. I don't have one of these cameras so I can't test, but I just wanted to mention something.

Some people here might be interested to learn that libgphoto2 2.4.9 has been released. One of the new updates to the ptp2 driver is the addition of the ID for the Canon EOS 550D. See http://www.gphoto.org/ for more info.

At the moment Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" is only carrying libgphoto2 2.4.8-0ubuntu1

FWIW, I've installed ufraw (and gimp-ufraw) from Pascal de Bruijn's PPA at https://launchpad.net/~pmjdebruijn/+archive/ppa to process RAW files from Canon 550D on my Karmic installation.

I can actually view this image with Evince on Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx". No good for editing I know, but it might help with comment #2.

I can see the pictures with f-spot, as well no help for editing.

Although the image viewer indeed does show the images it doesn't let me browse trough a bunch of them (next / previous buttons).
The lack of thumbnails (for some weird reason i did saw a few thumbnails appear, can't figure out why though) in nautilus and the above mentioned flaw, makes it pretty much useless.
I noticed on the website of dcraw it has added support for this camera and I was wondering if anyone had a deb/ppa to include it in lucid.

Update! Found a ppa which exposes the latest version (9.02):
https://launchpad.net/~hito/+archive/ppa/+packages

Rawstudio doesn't seem affected by the update though.
It probably uses it own implementation of dcraw.

Is this still occurring in Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal"?

The problem with DCRaw is still present in Natty (DCRaw 8.99) but the problem with UFRaw is fixed by the update to UFRaw 0.18. DCraw needs to be updated to at least version 9.00.

Ufraw 0.18 still doesn't display 550D raw images correctly. Some of them are ok, but others have a pink hue on white highlights. Even an updated dcraw (9.11) doesn't help.

dcraw 9.12 is the current version, and supports the cameras we are using, but is still not available in ubuntu. Does an up to date version of dcraw have to be provided by Debian for it to be made available in ubuntu? Should we be directing our complaints elsewhere?
