package dbus 1.12.20-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: triggers looping, abandoned

I ran into this issue when trying to upgrade from 20.04 to 20.10. Looks like there are a lot of dbus issues when trying upgrade. There are other issues similar to this one and almost all of them are observed during the release upgrade.
