Bug Description

Binary package hint: dansguardian

Request: Backport package
Package name: Dansguardian
Package version: 2.9.9.7-2
Affected releases: 8.04, 8.10, 9.04
Requested version: 2.10.1.1-1 from Karmic

The version of Dansguardian included in those releases is unstable (vulnerable to OOM crashes or abnormal swapping due to improper shmem handling in threads) and lacks some security patches.

Upstream developer considers 2.9 branch as unstable. 2.10 is their official stable release (2.10 came out in Wed 8th October 2008, 2.10.1.1 in Fri 5th June 2009)

Debian's stable version suffers the same problem. Karmic is synced with sid.

Please don't backport Dansguardian to Ubuntu 8.x and 9.04 until imporant bug #474475 (Multiple sites will not load or give a compression error message when using Dansguardian 2.10.1.1 with tinyproxy) isn't solved.
