3) What you expected to happen
wminput should run without interfering with other devices
4) What happened instead
When wminput is running in daemon mode, wifi drops out (it can see networks but not connect). Other devices seem to be sporadically interfered with as well, including but not necessarily limited to bluetooth tethering with Android phones, and USB mouse.
It sometimes takes a bit for wifi to drop out. To test it without waiting, start wminput -d, then disconnect wifi and attempt to reconnect.
wminput runs fine in non-daemon mode, and does not interfere with anything.
