Bug Description

Hi,

my parallel port driven printer Canon BJC-240 prints unreaddable output after
setting up in gnome-print-config.
Although it's listed in the printer selection and the appropriate driver is
listed, there's no usable output printed.
The printer beeps after reboot, so the the parport and lp modules are correctly
loaded.
I'll send the error_log asap.
But for now, IMHO, the printer has simply to work, because it's listed in the
supported device list.
An additional thing:
I used to work with Fedora Core 4 and this printer, and it worked flawlessly
after setting up.
I think this issue is just a show stopper for some Ubuntu users, because the
BJC-240 just really has to be getting to work.

Hi,
this is definitely a amd64 bug, because I booted the i386 live cd and there was
no problem configurating the printer and printing the test page.
After booting the amd64 live cd the same problem occured. So there has to be
some problems with the tranforming of the test file and sending the page the
page to the printer.

Please help or resolve this bug.

This was indeed the solution!
Now it's working.
Nevertheless you should exmamine the problem, because there's no hint to change
this BIOS parameter.
In a i386 environment you don't have to change this parameter?!
