I can confirm this error, which also occurs from apt-get and aptitude, it seems that is that is needed is the CREDITS.txt file is removed from either the cupsys package or libcupsys2 package.

I had the same error just copy the .deb from /var/cache/apt/archives/cupsys_1.3.2-1ubuntu4_i386.deb to you home directory and run 'sudo dpkg -i --force-all cupsys_1.3.2-1ubuntu4_i386.deb'

That did the trick for me.

Didnt work for me... but then again I new to this process & linux

could this happen because I'm using ubuntu 7.10.... has failed to setup several times ... then I get this message
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/geubuntu-configurations_1.0_all.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/applications/gnome-panel.desktop', which is also in package gnome-panel-data
