Bug Description

I get a lot of printing messages (every 2 seconds) by the GNOME Shell message system about a document which would be printed. I printed this document yesterday and now the printer is doing nothing, but I get the message about printing the document every 2 seconds.

Now I have hundred of these messages in the GNOME Shell message tray and no document is printed at all.

Druckvorgang läuft »Test Page« auf Photosmart Prem-C41...

I also get this message with the system-config-printer tool:

Ausführung läuft - The printer is busy.

and:

Ausführung läuft - Processing page 1...

If I delete the printer and use system-config-printer for setup of the printer, then I'll get a printer configuration with an adress like this:

hp:/net/Photosmart_Prem_C410_series?zc=HP******

Now printing works fine. It seems to be an issue with the new printing setup tool in Ubuntu which can be found in the new system settings and it seems to be an issue with the printer adress and it's resolution.

Hi,

Can you please provide the displayed error messages. This new tool displays the warning message and navigates when user setup printer using hp-setup.

Also please provide us "hp-check" output by running hp-check in terminal.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath

Hello Typo,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with cups. You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and cups have been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 989059
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and cups better.
G
