I assume that the problem only occurs for your print queue "iP4300" with the PPD file "Canon iP4300 Ver.2.70". This PPD file is not part of the Ubuntu distribution, but most probably from a driver package from Canon. This driver package is also supposed to ship the missing file "pstocanonij" and to install it into /usr/lib/cups/filter/. If the Canon package does not do so, it is a bug in that Canon package which has to be reported to Canon. It is not a Ubuntu bug. Closing ...

Changed in cups (Ubuntu):

Which is the package to report this bug?

It is the package which you have downloaded from Canon's web site which contains the PPD file. Look on Canon's web site how to report bugs on Canon's driver packages.

Hhmm, until yet I was able to print without having installed anything from the Canon's website. But I now can try to use to use the printer with model "Canon iP4300 Ver.2.70" or with ""Canon iP4300" and run always into a mess.

Update: I was able to reestablish printing by using a ppd-File which I found in /etc/cups/ppd. As far as I know here cups stores his printer information. Now I am a little confused but I appreciate having back my printing function.

Happy Christmas,
Florian

Please be more specific. I am having the same problem you were having, but because you were not verbose in your post, I am unable to resolve the issue. Can you please explain how you were able to get your printing problems resolved in more detail so the rest of us might benefit from your experience?

Thanks.
