Bug Description

Binary package hint: cups

I went to print a new documents (after successfully printing several other documents) and the only target printer listed in the print options in Evince was "Print to file". Upon looking at the list of printers in "Printing" (System>Administration>Printing) there were no target printers listed.

The workaround was to restart the CUPS server via the daemon.

Seeing the samething. Ubuntu 9.10 ver Cups 1.4.1. I noticed the printers were listed in Cups http://127.0.0.1:631 and Samba. http://127.0.0.1:901 But when I browsed for the server the shares were there but Not the printers. I had to restart samba?

Eric, probably CUPS did not start on boot. this is fixed by an update for Lucid. Please do a full update and reboot to see whether CUPS starts correctly then. If not, uninstall plymouth. See bug 554172.
