Bug Description

Binary package hint: cups

this is unbuntu 10.04 beta2, with cups 1.4.3.1, using system-config-printer
1.2.0

The printer is a Dell 2130cn laser printer wtih a duplexor. This is accessed
via the network. It works correctly when used with fedora core12 using
cups 1.4.2, and from Windows/XP systems.

When setting "Printer Properties", selecting "Job Options", setting "Sides:" to
Two-sided (long edge).
When clicking "Apply", the Sides: reverts to "One-sided".

As a result, applications are not offered the option of using the duplexor.
  ----------------

Initially This printer was configured using " Network Printer", and
'Find Network Printer'.

"Dell 2130cn Color Laser (IP address)" was found, and IP address was shown in
Host: area along with Port number: 9100

Originally, under drivers, 'Generic"' was selected along with "Generic PCL 6/PCL
 XL Printer Foomatic/pxlcolor [en]".

This encountered the above problem.

Then I copied the .ppd file from the fedora core12 system that worked, and then selected "provide ppd file" and used the .ppd file from fedora core12.

This didn't make any difference, I still can't enable the duplexor.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in cups (Ubuntu):

Same issue on Precise with Canon Pixma mp170 (it doesn't have a physical duplex printing but should work with manual duplex printing).
