i can't print from other applications.

I found a workaround: installing the package "ghostscript-cups".
note: I am using the ppa "jaunty-bleed", and I suspect that this is the cause of the problem (but not sure).

On a standard Karmic system ghostscript-cups is installed by default and it cannot be uninstalled if there are driver packages installed which need it (Gutenprint, SpliX, HPLIP).

I am having the same problem with a Dell 1320c printer, it also is not recognized by the computer all the time, after reboot it sees it with lsusb, then reboot again and lsusb does not see it and dmesg says port is invalid HELP is needed
