Bug Description

Binary package hint: cups

On this system I never had a printer. However, my cupsd.conf file was modified somehow:

Setting up cups (1.3.11-1ubuntu6) ...

Configuration file `/etc/cups/cupsd.conf'
==> Modified (by you or by a script) since installation.
==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version.

Maybe its not cups itself that changed the conf file - I dont know, but something did as I get what i pasted above.

Are there packages that are known to touch that file? If so, please add the packages that do that without me touching printing ;).

CUPS itself can modify the cupsd.conf, for example by the server settings in its web admin interface. Also system-config-printer has options to configure CUPS ("Server"/"Settings") which can modify cupsd.conf.

Also the CUPS package itself does a hardware-specific (not static) change on cupsd.conf: It sets the "RIPCache" variable to 1/4 of the size of installed memory. As you do not change the memory amount in your system all the time, omce accepted this change the package build should stop asking on future updates.
