SYMPTOMS: I ran "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" using Karmic liveCD. Got the following errors in teminal:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Burn the karmic desktop-i386.iso to a cd-r. Insert in drive and boot the system.
* open a terminal
* run "sudo apt-get update"
* run "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
