Bug Description

After upgrading from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04 all printers are non functional. They can be pinged, printing seems to work, but nothing gets printed.

Trying to connect to cups by https://localhost:631 connects, displays the entry page, but non of the links given works. All give back: "Not found".

Looks like cups is not installed in a useful way making it work as expected.

Thank you for your bug report. What's the output of

$ dpkg -l | grep cups

on your system?

The cups log attached to the report has errors like

Datei \"/usr/lib/cups/filter/commandtops\" nicht verfügbar: No such file or directory
Datei \"/usr/lib/cups/cgi-bin/help.cgi\" nicht verfügbar: No such file or directory
Datei \"/usr/lib/cups/cgi-bin/admin.cgi\" nicht verfügbar: No such file or directory

Which suggests cups and cups-core-drivers aren't installed?

you might want to
$ sudo apt install ubuntu-desktop^

to ensure you are not missing any of the standard desktop components

Changed in cups (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete
