Bug Description
I want to report multiple issues encountered so far on Ubuntu 18.10 regarding printing PDF files.
My configuration:
- Computer: Dell XPS 15 9530
- OS: Ubuntu 18.10
- Printer: Samsung M2825ND Xpress Mono Laser Printer
- PDF Readers Tested: Various (Evince, Foxit, Okular)
- PDF Creator Tested: Word, LibreOffice, GhostScript, PDFTex, Acrobat PDFMaker, ...
- PDF Sizes Tested: Various
- PDF Versions Tested: Various
Issues:
- Printing 1 page per physical page encounter a lot problems while printing 2 pages per physical page produces issues less often
- Sometimes playing around with print setting (such as scaling, centering) solves the issue sometimes it creates it and sometimes does nothing
- Printing calc file directly from LibreOffice is not possible
Error:
- PCL-6 error (don't remember the exact code right now but can provide it if needed)
Notes:
- My guess is that this is an error related to the printer drivers but since I don't have another printer to test on can't verify.
- Another guess is that the PDF produces PDF that use feature that are not properly handled on linux
- Turning Markdown text to PDF using PDFlatex causes a printing error whereas turning the same Markdown to html and printing through Chrome causes no issue
- If you need more logs please instruct me what I need to to help
