Bug Description

A Canon MF8380CDW printer will not print any thing after upgrading to 17.10. I ran all the steps from this https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems web site.

I have attached a lot of log files. Not sure which one is needed. The printer did work back under 15.10 or 16.04 but took a lot to get it fixed to work then. I have tried to print from 18.04 and it has the same problem with this printer.

Hello Scott,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with cups. You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and cups have been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 1743939
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and cups better.

Yes it was fixed with new driver from Canon. I upgraded to 18.04 and one cups driver started printing black pages again. I just installed the new driver from Canon on 18.04 with the all the updates installed and it not printing black pages on PDF pages now. Not sure if the cups update or the Canon driver update fixed the problem, just glad it is working again. I can run any report you would like to get the information about my system that you would like.

I could not run the command you sent. I guess close this bug report as I have upgraded to 18.04 and installed the newest Canon driver and it is working. My guess is the Canon driver made the biggest difference, it might be it works better with the newest cups driver.

I printed two different PDF files and both printed just fine with no all black pages.

Thank you

I will help if you still wish to test.
