Bug Description

What is expected to happen is when one opens https://launchpadlibrarian.net/179309521/example.pdf in Evince and prints to either a Canon Pixma MG3540 or a Ricoh SP 202SN, it prints correctly.

What happens instead is it is missing certain characters as noted in screenshot https://launchpadlibrarian.net/179309843/scan.jpg .

WORKAROUND: Print via LibreOffice Draw.

poglaz, this in not reproducible in Trusty, with Evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1 printing to PDF. Could you please advise if this is still reproducible for you?

Christopher, unfortunately, this bug is still reproducible. I've just downloaded example file I attached, printed it, and paper result is the same as scan I've attached before.

I use Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and Evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1 (full output about versions attached).

Another interesting point is I've changed my printer since time of first report - and printed result is still the same. I used Canon MG3540 and now it's Ricoh SP 202SN

poglaz, just to clarify, can still open the PDF via LibreOffice Draw, print, and it prints as expected?

If not, would the built-in PDF viewer from either Firefox, or Chromium/Chrome allow a print as expected?

poglaz, to see if this is already solved, could you please test for this in a live environment of http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise if this is still reproducible with your Ricoh SP 202SN?

To reproduce bug, you can install cups-pdf package and send example.pdf to printer "pdf" in Evince.
With Okular, guillemets in example.pdf printed fine.

Versions:
evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1
cups-pdf 2.6.1-9
okular 4:4.13.3-0ubuntu0.1
