Bug Description

Hi,

This printer requires usb-no-reattach-default=true option otherwise, it will print gibberish after successfully completing its first print job after being powered on.

$ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 043d:009a Lexmark International, Inc.

This is similar to bug #1084164, but with a different Lexmark Laser printer

with link to this bug report and post a link to your upstream bug report here. Thanks.

The printer will be added to the USB printer quirk list then.

For the time being you can add it by your self on your system, editing

/usr/share/cups/usb/org.cups.usb-quirks

adding a line

0x043d 0x009a no-reattach

Changed in cups (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

Hi,

I have a Lexmark E120 printer. It is working fine with Windows 7 and Windows 10. I'm trying to migrate all my PCs to Ubuntu but my printer prints one line garbage from Ubuntu. Seems to be related to this bug. Any idea how to solve it? Thanks!

Hi,

If it's related to this bug, then it could be that it needs an entry in:

/usr/share/cups/usb/org.cups.usb-quirks

You will need to get the correct usb IDs from lsusb. Quoting from the file I mentioned:

# To get the USB vendor and product IDs for a given printer, run the "lsusb"
# command, which will show something like the following:
#
# Bus 002 Device 003: ID ab21:34dc Acme Example Printer
#
# The "ab21:34dc" is the vendor and product ID, separated by a colon.

Append the info you get at the end of the file. Save it. Turn off your printer. Then turn it on again.
