Hello,
This error was caused, in my case, on a computer I use as a server. I was remotely logged I launched the install for wine:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
$ sudo apt-get install wine1.6 #latest stable release

I put the end of the installation on the background:
ctrl+z
$ bg

Once the download was finished and the installation started, my local computer shut down (power failure in my office). Ssh connection broke. Since then I haven't been able to fix it. I rebooted and the errorreporting procedude was launched.

I tried 'apt-get -f install' and it didn't work. Ofter rebooting my 'server' I tried again 'apt-get -f install' it worked.
Then I updated + dist-upgrade and it went all smoothly
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Hope that helps you find the problem
Sincerely,
Dead Leaf
