Bug Description

Binary package hint: cups-pdf

The upgrade to Maverick beta removed cups-pdf package from my PC.
I have reinstalled it, but my pdf virtual printer was not working. So I even removed my Generic Cups-PDF Printer and recreated it, but it is still not working.

Till yesterday this issue (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/599450) was reported in the Beta release notes (http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/maverick/beta#Known%20issues).
I see today the page has been updated, removing this malfunction.

I am opening this back to track this behaviour, I will run the package updater afterwards to check if something changed in the meanwhile.

I have done the upgrade: the cups-pdf package has been updated, but the printer is still not working.

Before the upgrade to Maverick beta, my PDF files were created in the "PDF" folder in my home.
Maybe the default path has been changed? Were can I find the option to check?

Did you reboot after your last update, to assure that you are really running the new kernel?

Does normal printing on your HP Deskjet 6940 work correctly for you?

Can you provide an error_log as described in the CUPS error_log section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems?

Hello Till,

1: Yes, I rebooted my pc after the upgrade before posting comment #2.

2: The HP Deskjet 6940 printer keeps working correctly.

3: I browsed through the wiki you gave me, checking if I could fix the pdf printer by myself, with no improvement. So I activated the error logging in the printing server. Attaching the error logs: if you look to "cups-pdf_log", you can see there are errors in setting file mode.

I hope this can help fixing it! Thanks!
