Fresh intall of Ubuntu 9.10 server amd64 on VMware ESX 3.5 with encrypted home dir.
While booting, ubuntu cannot mount swap

Nothign to do with dk-disks, you do not even have that installed.

Can you please give some more details on this? Please attach /var/log/kern.log, /etc/crypttab, and /etc/fstab. Thanks!

This is the same as bug #475936, which is fixed in lucid. There is a fix for karmic waiting in karmic-proposed; please help us verify this fix by testing.
