Bug Description

Binary package hint: cowbell

Using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy with the version of cowbell installed with apt-get install cowbell.
When using the guess tags function either with CTRL+g or in the Misc menu. Cowbell shows a message about getting tag information and pops up an error:
The connection to soap.amazon.com failed. Please check your internet connection and try again.

What is your connection type ? Coult it be that you are behind a proxy ?

If yes, then mark it's a duplicate of bug #290297

Hi,
No proxy. Just a connection through a router to the internet. There's no password or special internet configuration at all. It's a wired connection.

Forgot to say... My connection is dsl.

I have the same problem. I'm connected trough a router and its dsl too. My machine is on ethernet with dhcp.

The problem is likely because the Amazon Ecommerce Web Service 3.0 has been deprecated. See http://soap.amazon.com/onca/soap3. Migration instructions are provided which may permit the cowbell software to use the to use the 4.0 service.
