Bug Description

Steps:
* compose a new message in dekko

Expected:
* I can select a contact from my contacts list to send the email to

Current:
* have to type the email address myself

NOTE: I'm adding a content-hub task, too, as I'm not sure this would be handled well by the content hub yet. I imagine we need to allow both browsing (through standard content hub UI), but we'd also need to think about type-ahead-style search, one that would still keep your data secure.

We've recently just committed 'temporary' support for adding contacts but that's communicating directly with galera. As suggested by popey as the calendar app does the same

We originally intended to go through content hub as i presumed the address-book-app would return vcards for a contact but we could only access phone numbers going the content-hub route.

I'm going to include address-book-app to this one as it seems something needs changing there to enable exporting of email addresses.

Good, I wasn't sure myself how this would work with the hub, hence added the task, as I think going through the full contacts app every time is not good enough, we need a faster way, using some search capabilities in the address field itself.

no longer affects: address-book-app (Ubuntu)

I can add a call to url: "e-mail://<contact-email>" on contact view and the dekop app should "consume" this url prefix.

And I agree the best approach is the one used by calendar app. Let me know if you need any help on that.

Hi Renato,

Sorry for the slow response on this, it's taken a while to figure out how Dekko will have access to contacts.

Up until now we haven't been able to access contacts in the same way as calendar due to confinement and restrictions on the contacts aa-policy. Looking at bug 1425949 and talking with popey we are now going to go the direct access route and drop the use of content-hub for this.

So yes if it's still possible having the e-mail:// url scheme would be ideal for this.

I will take a look at the code and see if I can propose a patch for it.

Cheers
