Bug Description

Binary package hint: console-setup

When system is started up is seems that console font is not loaded. The problem seems to occur at least since 10.10.
The cause of the problem is lack of FRAMEBUFFER variable being setup in /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf .
console-setup (or some other package - do not really know) should probably create a file in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d which contains: 'FRAMEBUFFER=y'

Adding 'FRAMEBUFFER=y' to '/etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf ' fixes the problem.

I have noted the same bug on newly installed version 11.04 i386 32 bit on a Thinkpad T61P. Executing: sudo setupcon from a terminal successfully reads the config file and invokes my desired change to a large font for the 1920 x 1200 display.

I have the same problem on Natty, with the caveat that adding FRAMEBUFFER=y to /etc/initramfs/initramfs.conf (and subsequently running update-initramfs -u -k all) does not seem to fix the problem. Manually running setupcon does fix it.

putting setupcon in the boot process should solve the problem, i think. (don't ask me how to do it)
