Bug Description

I have tested this with both Ubuntu studio 8.10 alternate 64 bit install and with Ubuntu desktop 8.10 alternate 64. Both had the same error during the install process.

I ran through the text install, using features such as US keyboard layout. Encrypted LVM. Full Wipe of the Hard Drive.

I did not check if the Caps Locks for Encrypted LVM, but after putting in my password... for Example:
UBUNTUgo1234!

I would finish the install. Notice, both the password and the second ask were using Caps Lock on the UBUNTU part. So after the install on the first login screen... putting in the password with Caps Lock does not work... but the working password is now :
ubuntugo1234!

Notice, the shift 1 did work (!) but not the caps lock.

After logging in I changed the password in user settings, and tested the new password with the way it was supposed to be written, and this works.

I would only have to assume the encrypted LVM caps lock entry would not work, but I would imagine this would need tested.

I tested both ubuntu studio and desktop version with 8.10 alternate install amd64 version.

My hardware is a Lenovo x61t 7767CTO with 2gb ram, dual core intel 1.8 ghz.

The caps lock light DOES come on while I entered the password into the field provided. So the hardware WAS sending caps lock.
