Bug Description

Binary package hint: computertemp

The computertemp applet has an opaque greyish background that makes it look out of place on a non-grey panel, especially next to the CPU Frequency Scaling Monitors. It should have a transparent background.

Using Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope 9.4 beta, but has been a problem in all releases I've tried.

Using computertemp package 0.9.6.1-1

I should note, there is an upstream bug report for this issue: http://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=11085&group_id=6500

The comment recommends trying the latest source, but I can't get past autogen.sh (complaint about missing glib-gettext; can't find appropriate package).

This is indeed fixed in the current svn, install using:

$ sudo apt-get install gnome-common python-gtk2-dev subversion libgconf2-dev checkinstall
$ svn co http://svn.infinicode.org/computertemp/trunk/computertemp
$ cd computertemp/
$ sh autogen.sh --prefix /usr
$ make
$ sudo checkinstall -D --pkgname "computertemp" --pkgversion "0.9.6.1.svn`date +%Y%m%d`" --default

$ dpkg -l computertemp | grep ii
ii computertemp 0.9.6.1-1.1 computer temperature monitor applet for GNOME

Can the mentioned fix be ported to Lucid?

Can we reopen this bug? I'm seeing exactly what Patrick Cornelissen posted in his screenshot png - the temperature applet does not follow the desktop theme. It's especially ugly when using the new Ambience theme. I've seen this since I upgrade my laptop to Lucid.

The latest SVN works.
Considering this project isn't very active would it be okay if I built a package from the current revision?
I'm not having any problems so far.
I did have to tweak the makefiles to get it to install correctly though, I'll see if I can track down the cause of that.
