Bug Description

Binary package hint: computer-janitor

This bug is similar to #363934, but on bug #363934 you closed it saying that is hard (and not error-proof) to parse the error messages.
But now, the error that c-j-gtk says is:
         installArchives() failed
So, I understand that there is something new on the ways errors are handled by c-j-gtk

The problem is that if synaptic is running at the same time that c-j, then c-j says the error mentioned above, without any another message.
I think that the error message should be something like: "the ""package system""" is locked by another application...."

There is also something strange on package versions

My ubuntu version is: (upgraded, not clean install)
Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04

The command line says
# computer-janitor --version
computer-janitor 1.13.3

but apt-cache says: 1.14.1-0ubuntu2

$apt-cache show computer-janitor

Description: clean up a system so it's more like a freshly installed one
Over time, a computer system tends to get cluttered. For example,
software packages that are no longer needed can be uninstalled.
When the system is upgraded from release to release, it may miss
out on configuration tweaks that freshly installed systems get.
 .
Computer Janitor is an application to fix these kinds of problems.
It attempts to find software packages that can be removed, and
tweak the system configuration in useful ways.
 .
This is the command line version.
