In Precise it worked ok for me, now I'm getting this weird "not keep aspect ratio" behaviour after upgrading to Quantal.

Still not fixed in 12.04.2. Are there any workarounds?

Is it a fault of compiz, mplayer or the codec?

This bug still exists in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Unity 7.2.2, mplayer 1.1-4.8), and Ubuntu 14.10 as far as I can tell.

Has there been any workarounds found for this yet?
