media player shortcut doesn't bring up media player

Bug #978793 reported by Mister X on 2012-04-11
This bug affects 1 person
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
compiz (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Activating the media player keyboard shortcut (fn+media by default, but customizable) will bring the media player to the background if there are other windows open, which pretty much defeats the whole purpose of having the shortcut in the first place.

Expected behaviour: Bring the media player to the foreground.

reassigning to compiz, that's the focus stealing prevention, I guess it doesn't like the fact that command is started by gnome-settings-daemon and probably doesn't have an user interaction timestamp associated with it

Though this bug isn't exactly the same, the root cause is the same as bug 627195 - The issue is indeed compiz's focus-stealing prevention.

To help organize this will become a duplicate as the issue is logged already and when the above bug is fixed, so will this one.
