Bug Description

Reproduce:
- open nautilus, navigate somewhere with a png file
- press <Enter> to see eog preview the file

What happens:
- eog window displays in the front, with NO focus
- window in the background is focused

What should happen:
- eod window should gain focus

This is really painful bug, as when you close the window with Alt+F4, you close nautilus instead of intended eog window (suppose you had two panes with paths deep inside your system, that's why I think it's really painful and frustrating).

I'm wondering if it's a broken compiz setup, or Unity itself. Don't know.

Hi, thanks for reporting. Can you still reproduce this on an up-to-date install of 12.04? I cannot.

Ah, does this have anything to do with multiple instances of eog? I can reproduce bug 910063. Is this the first instance or multiple instances?

I can reproduce this with only a single eog instance. It happens every time when opening image files from Unity dash. The eog window is not focused, even when there are no other windows present on the current viewport. It's probably related to bug 910063 (which I can also reproduce), but not an exact duplicate.

Forgot to mention, I'm using Ubuntu 12.10, fully updated.

eog 3.6.0-0ubuntu1 (http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main amd64 )

Compiz focus prevention settings at default values (Low).

Interestingly, trying to avoid focus-stealing-prevention for only Eog-windows, by appending "... &!(class=Eog)" to focus_prevention_match setting does not help. Turning off focus prevention entirely works around the issue.

@Chauncellor Yes, I am on up to date 12.04 and I can reproduce that lack of focus by opening a file from nautilus using the Enter key or mouse double click. I'm not sure what I was running when reporting the bug, running Gnome now (not Gnome shell).

Forgot to mention, first as well as any next window does *not* have focus.

I can reproduce this bug as well on 12.10. As with the original post, it is _really_ painful to lose an open nested window when closing with alt-f4. `eog` on the command-line does not grab focus either.

Can we get this triaged and assigned to somebody, please?
