Unity panel disappeared - trying to reset delivers compiz error

Bug Description

I got into trouble right after updating to Oneiric... :-(

Every now and then the Unity launcher disappears, I tried to reset unity with "unity --reset" and got this output:

Same here. Top and left panels disappeared both on upgrade to Oneric and for install from scratch. It has to do with the ATI/AMD proprietary graphics driver and/or compiz. Very frustrating. Bad Ubuntu.

Well, I got Nvidea, so ATI/AMD cannot be the root of the problem!! :-(

I receive this same error. I have nvidia and x86 not 64:

That version has reached EOL since a while, so it will not receive update. If that issue still exist, report again using ubuntu-bug.
