Hi,

I just retested this with the Oneiric image from 20110823. Tests were done with nVidia Corporation GT218 [NVS 2100M] (rev a2) graphics on a Toshiba Tecra S11.

Behavior is now improved and I can't reproduce the original problem. External screen works fine with no compiz crashes, I
see a bit of corruption on the unused portions of the screen but only when rotating the external display. Resolution changes work as expected on both external and internal displays.

Please let me know if I need to test something more specific.

Hello Daniel,

Could you test one of the affected systems again with Alpha3, please? Just to double check that it was not a random issue.

Thanks!

Hello,

As requested, I reinstalled Alpha3 and the issue as described originally does appear again, the external screen shows blocks of black and white with dots of various colors.

I then installed with the latest image as of today (20110906) and things work well as described in comment #2.

This indicates that it was not a random issue, but some problem actually present in A3.

The systems tested were:

Dell Precision M4500 (nVidia Corporation: GT215 [Quadro FX 1800M])
Dell Latitude E6410 (nVidia Corporation: GT218 [NVS 3100M])

I'll mark as Fix Released as the issue is no longer present in recent images.
