Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

This is similar to bug #73544 but it happens on an Intel video card.

When I run enable Desktop Effects in the Control Center, window decorations disappear completely. Windows can be minimized/maximized from the dock, and desktop switching works. (But no effects seem to actually happen. The checkboxes on the Desktop Effects applet are disabled and unchecked.)

I noticed that the gtk-window-decorator process remains running when effects are enabled; is this normal?

Here is some info on my system (a Dell Latitude D620 laptop):

The video card is reported as: Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller

I'm not sure where the bug is, so I marked desktop-effects as affected, too.

And another thing: this is Ubuntu Feisty freshly updated from the normal repositories.

I could never get compiz or beryl to work correctly on this machine, though using some other repositories I could in the past at least get them to work slowly (and very unstably).

This is a duplicate of Bug #80778

To get the fix, remove your ~/.gconf/apps/compiz directory, or update your gconf keys to include the window decoration.

Thanks! I hadn't noticed that one.

Is there any way to activate full screen anti-aliasing when using compiz?

Hi Bogdan!

I don't know, but you can open a new ticket and ask it there ;)
