Bug Description

could be related or similar to other bugs reported, but I can't tell, so reporting this as another bug...

Crashed just booting the machine...
I had done some apt-get update upgrade
and synaptic to fix broken dependencies
(and -f check sometimes too...)

HTH,
YMMV
