Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Spin off of bug #111939, which deals with the same issue in metacity.

Description from that bug report: "In some window managers (I believe KWin is one of them) the user is able to initiate a drag-and-drop operation, then press alt-tab to raise a window that will be the drop target, and only then release the mouse button so that the drag-and-drop is performed." But this is not possible in compiz.

I don't know is this the right place to whrite this, but drag-and-drop operation in Unity is too limited for me too. When I want to send file to skype, ussualy I drag the file from nautilus to skype window and drop there (in skype window). Now when drag file, the skype icon on the launcher is not active, so imposible to drop to skype window. More, when draging even the icon of Nautilus, which is active is not fuctional, because she offers choise of two, three ... etc opnened nautilus windows, but when I try to drop in to chosen window, the window is stil inactive.

@tolostoi That's an issue to file against unity. This bug is specifically about alt-tabbing in compiz.

are there any workarounds, maybe disabling some compiz goodies or changing some keyboard bindings? cheers
