When using compiz --replace in terminal i get this output:

This is somewhat fixed by installing "compiz-gnome" as it seems to not be installed by default?
Some things seem buggy though, moving a window to the edge does not move to the next desktop. Viewport Switcher is enabled, and the sides of the screen are set to "Desktop Wall: flip right" and so on.

Right, someone else has a 2048xwhatever resolution and their max texture size is 2048 just like yours but on their system running complz results in unusable screen corruption. Given the choice between someone not being able to use their computer at all and someone not being able to use compiz we've chosen the second option. That is why this is Won't Fix.
