Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I found no way to configure Compiz to account for the use case where the naive
user accidentally triggers scale. The two options I have to address this issue
seem to be:

Option A: Enable "Click Desktop to Show Desktop"

This exits scale, and prevents the naive user from becoming stuck in scale
while trying to click on a panel or the desktop. However, hiding all windows is
a very confusing consequence.

Option B: Don't enable "Click Desktop to Show Desktop"

This prevents the confusing consequence of hiding all windows, but the naive
user who accidentally triggers scale may still get confused, as clicks on
panels, the desktop, Docks, etc. have no effect when Scale is triggered.

I think an excellent solution would be to allow "Click to Exit Scale",
which simply exits Scale (putting windows in their original positions) if the
user clicks on anything that is not a window during Scale.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance.

I can confirm this is still an issue in
*Ubuntu 11.04 (64-bit)
*Compiz 1:0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2
*CCSM 0.9.4

It would be nice to have the option to set "Click Desktop to Exit Scale" in the CCSM. As this is an option in OSX, most users will expect this.

I use hot corners to initiate my "Scale" function. The same hot corner acts as the cancel mechanism to the Scale function. It would also be nice to turn this off.

Hope this helps.
